Celebrating the life of

Page Anderson Hungerpiller

November 07, 1932 - December 05, 2016

Page Anderson Hungerpiller

Page Anderson Hungerpiller was born on November 7, 1932 to Edith Hunter Anderson Minis and Joseph Anderson in Savannah at the Telfair Hospital, and she passed away on December 5, 2016 at Spanish Oaks Hospice.  She attended the Pape School and graduated from the National Cathedral School in Washington D.C. She then attended Sweet Briar College before marrying the man whom she would adore for 63 years in April of 1953: James “Jim” Hungerpiller.

Page was devoted to her hometown, and her community involvement stands as testimony.  Alongside two close friends, Susie Williams and Linda Beam, she founded the Savannah Tree Foundation, which successfully saved the 300 year-old Candler Oak as well as the oaks lining White Bluff Drive.  Their organization has since planted and preserved many thousands of trees that distinguish Savannah’s charm and character.  Page was also an active and dedicated member of the Junior League, Trustees Garden Club, and Colonial Dames of America.

Above all, Page loved her family with unceasing generosity and devotion. Cherished by her husband, beloved by her children, and adored by her granddaughters, Page too was loved in return and abides in memories still bright.

Page is survived by her spouse, James E. Hungerpiller; her daughter Susan, son Jimmy and his wife Angie, and daughter-in-law Jeanne; granddaughters Page Ryan and her husband Conner, Kate Oelschig, Auddie Hungerpiller, and Carrie Hungerpiller; her great-granddaughter Callie Ryan; and preceded in death by her son John Hungerpiller.
